"Secretary Chao and I had a good conversation this morning about the importance of investing in our nation's infrastructure and creating good-paying jobs that can't be outsourced,"said Senator Duckworth."If confirmed, I hope that Secretary Chao and I will be in close contact to ensure the Department of Transportation canbest serve the people of Illinois as well as maintain the Department'scritical role funding major infrastructure projects in our state, a role which has only grown in importance in the absence of a state budget. I also invited Secretary Chao to visit our state so she can see some of the critical upgrades we are making first-hand, and I hope she will take me up on the invitation if she is confirmed.
