In Bangkok, Duckworth Meets with Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn

 

[BANGKOK, THAILAND] – U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today met with the Princess of Thailand, Her Royal Highness Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, where the two discussed relations between Thailand and the United States.

“I appreciate that Her Royal Highness Sirindhorn granted me an audience and am thankful for the opportunity to discuss issues important to the people of both of our nations,” said Duckworth. “I look forward to working with Princess Sirindhorn and other Thai leaders in the years ahead to further strengthen ties between our two countries.”

Duckworth’s trip began in Hawaii, where she was briefed by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), U.S. Pacific Fleet (PACFLT) Command, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) and others. Duckworth then travelled to Vietnam, where she visited U.S. Senator John McCain’s Memorial Statue, attended a roundtable with disability advocates and met with Vietnam’s National Assembly Vice President, Deputy Minister of National Defense, National Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee Chair and Vice Foreign Minister in Charge of American Relations.
