Duckworth Touts Support for Local Business with Springfield Chamber of Commerce
[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today met with Springfield Mayor Misty Buscher and more than a dozen members of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce to underscore her commitment to helping create good-paying local jobs and support entrepreneurs. The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce serves as a hub for businesses in the Springfield area. Their mission is to support local enterprises, foster economic growth and create meaningful connections within the community. Photos from today’s meeting are available on the Senator’s website.
“Our state and our nation are stronger when communities and families prosper—and all levels of leadership working together brings us all closer to that reality,” said Duckworth. “I’ll keep advocating for workforce development and doing whatever I can to support our state’s entrepreneurs so that hardworking Illinoisans have a clearer path to a better life for themselves and their loved ones.”
Duckworth and the members also discussed the Chamber’s Federal funding priorities, including the Duckworth-championed Springfield 1908 National Race Riot Memorial. Duckworth’s Springfield 1908 Race Riot National Monument Act was reported favorably out of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources in September, bringing it closer to becoming law to establish the site as a national monument.
