Duckworth Meets with Peoria Local Initiatives Support Corporation
[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) met with leadership from the Peoria Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) to discuss the importance of community development initiatives and programs. The Peoria Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) brings residents and local governments together with for-profit entities to improve the housing and economic disparities in Peoria and throughout Central Illinois. “Every American deserves an equal chance at reaching the American Dream, but we can do so much more to make that a reality,” Senator Duckworth said. “I will continue to do everything I can to support the goals of organizations like Peoria LISC and help move Central Illinois communities forward.”
Senator Duckworth’s efforts to support community development are part of her work to revitalize economies in communities around the state that have been ignored for too long. As a member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Duckworth continues to advocate on behalf of working families across Illinois, increasing access to jobs and opportunity to help boost local economies and stabilize neighborhoods struggling for a brighter future.
