Duckworth Meets With Nominee To Be Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) met virtually with Rohit Chopra, President Biden’s nominee to be Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. They discussed their shared priorities, consumer protection for servicemembers and military families as well as addressing racial justice in our consumer protection strategy.
“It is past time for us to restore the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s central mission of protecting consumers, and Rohit Chopra is uniquely qualified, experienced and prepared to do the job,” Duckworth said. “During our meeting, I’m glad we had the chance to discuss how we can better protect military families, the AANHPI community and all Americans against fraud, abuse and predatory business practices. If confirmed, I look forward to working with him closely to help all consumers not only recover, but thrive beyond this pandemic.”
