Duckworth Meets with Mayor-Elect Lightfoot

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) hosted Chicago Mayor-elect Lori Lightfoot in her Senate office today, where the two discussed how they can work together to advocate for the people of Chicago, address the city’s environmental justice issues, ensure every Chicagoan is accurately counted in the upcoming census and help secure infrastructure investments to create jobs, reduce congestion and upgrade the city’s roads, railways and bridges. B-Roll of the meeting is available here and photos of the meeting are available here.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to work together with Mayor-elect Lightfoot to help hardworking Illinois families and bring federal dollars back to Chicago,” said Senator Duckworth. “I was glad to discuss how we can best advocate for the city and why it's so important for Congress to support new investments in infrastructure and ensure Chicago has the resources it needs to remain a world-class city.”

Duckworth will also join Lightfoot, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and other members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation for a meeting and a media availability later today.
