Duckworth Hosts Town Hall in Carbondale
[CARBONDALE, IL] — In partnership with the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) hosted a town hall meeting today at Southern Illinois University to meet with constituents, answer questions and discuss her work serving Illinois families in the Senate. Photos from today’s town hall are available here.
“I understand that many people feel like leaders in Washington aren't listening to them, but I want them to know that I'm here and I'm listening,” Duckworth said. “Conversations with my constituents are essential to my work to serve the people of Illinois, and I look forward to hearing from more Illinoisans across the state in the weeks and months ahead.”
At tonight’s town hall, Duckworth highlighted her top priorities for the 116th Congress to an estimated crowd of 350 Illinoisans, including priorities like improving infrastructure in Illinois, lowering the cost of prescription drugs and helping Veterans. Duckworth answered questions from constituents on improving Veteran healthcare and working across the aisle in Washington, and discussed important local issues such as flooding across Southern Illinois and support for our farmers.
