Duckworth Hosts Federal Grants Workshop in Southern Illinois

 

[ULLIN, IL] – The Office of U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today hosted a federal grants workshop in partnership with Shawnee Community College and the Southern Five Regional Planning District and Development Commission in Ullin, Illinois. The workshop highlighted resources available to local governments, community organizations and individuals for transportation, infrastructure, flood mitigation and first responders. “Reaching as many Illinoisans as possible, addressing their concerns and serving as a resource is one of my top priorities as a Senator,” Duckworth said. “Today’s grants workshop brought federal agencies and local partners together with Southern Illinois municipalities, community organizations and individuals to help identify and secure federal resources to support our great state.”

Representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, United States Department Agriculture (USDA), U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and U.S. Department of Commerce. Representatives from U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), Congressman John Shimkus (IL-15), Illinois State Representative Natalie Phelps Finnie (IL-118) and Illinois Senator Dale Fowler (IL-59) were also in attendance.
