Duckworth, Durbin Announce $4.3 Million in Federal Funding fro Math Education
[WASHINGTON, D.C.] — U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today announced $4,338,911 in federal funding going to the University of Illinois Board of Trustees through the U.S. Department of Education’s Education Innovation and Research grant program. This award will support professional development for school principals and math educators to increase math proficiency of students.
“When we invest in our children’s education, we help set them on a path to succeed both inside and outside the classroom,” Duckworth said. “I’m proud to announce this significant federal funding alongside Senator Durbin that will help provide our state’s principals and math educators with the resources they need to strengthen their students’ proficiency in math and help more kids reach their full potential.”
“With today’s announced funding, our schools and teachers will be better supported to educate students and improve their proficiency in math,” said Durbin. “I’ll continue working with Senator Duckworth to ensure Illinois schools have the resources they need to help students succeed.”
