Duckworth, Durbin Announce $18.9 Million for Healthcare Providers in Illinois

 

[WASHINGTON D.C.] – U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) today announced $18.9 million in U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) grants. The funding will go to 15 providers throughout Illinois to invest in groundbreaking research, improved care, and efforts to reduce tobacco use. 

“By helping increase biomedical research, we can help deliver real public health results for Illinois families,” Duckworth said. “I will keep working with Senator Durbin to make sure organizations and researchers have the federal support they need to improve research, provide accessible care and help save lives.”

“Illinois is home to world-class health care providers and biomedical research institutions. If we hope to expand our understanding of diseases, better treat patients, and develop new cures and treatments for families in need, our federal government must make smart investments in the providers and institutions that help advance the public health. Today’s announced support from the federal government will go a long way toward improving health outcomes for families across Illinois,” Durbin said.
