Duckworth Discusses Workforce Development with Evanston Township High School Officials
[EVANSTON, IL] — U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today met with Evanston Township High School (ETHS) leadership and participated in a roundtable to discuss workforce development, alternatives to college and life after high school. Duckworth and the school officials were joined by community college representatives, Evanston city leaders, community partners and local employers. Photos from today’s roundtable are available here.
“Our nation’s high school students should have as many options as possible when they graduate,” Duckworth said. “It was good to talk with Evanston Township High School and community members about good-paying jobs and our work to guide them as they discover the right educational or career path for them. Investing in workforce development—and in our young people—by supporting our educational institutions will help lift up our students as we work to recover and rebuild from this public health and economic crisis.”
Last month, Duckworth, U.S. Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) reintroduced the Community College to Career Fund in Higher Education Act (CC2C), to make education more affordable for students pursuing degrees in high-skill industries. The bill would help businesses fill vacant, good-paying positions with qualified candidates.
